George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, from 1982, presented to Patrick "Pat" Valenzuela. Awarded annually (since 1950 by Santa Anita Park) to the thoroughbred horse racing jockey in North America that best demonstrates high standards of personal & professional conduct.
This is a replica of the life size statue of George Woolf, with Seabiscuit, in the Santa Anita Paddock Gardens. In 1982, Pat Valenzuela won 181 races, placed 190 & showed 179 times. It is bronze statue on a brass nameplate mounted on a walnut base. The award plate on the walnut base has a dent between the R and G in George and the are a few nicks / scratches on the walnut base (see pics).
