    Antique Meissen Porcelain Teacup & Saucer Set;
    Up for sale is a set of Meissen teacup and saucer with hand painted flowers, dated 19

    , or early 20

    century.
    The teacup and saucer feature scalloped rims decorated with gold gilt trims and hand painted flowers and insects over white porcelain. Both pieces show the Meissen blue under-glaze cross-swords logo accompanied by inscribed numbers, including “x47” and “04” for the teacup and “X47” and “75” for the saucer. Notably, the Meissen cross-swords shown at the bottom have heavy endings at the tip of the handles, a mark that appeared from 1815 to 1924 and helped dating the pieces.
    Meissen porcelain was started in Dresden, Germany in 1709 to produce the first European hard-paste porcelain at high temperature. Its crossed-swords logo was introduced in 1720 and evolved during different periods. Over 300 years of existence, Meissen is known for high quality and originality till today.
    Measures: Teacup, approximately, 4” rim diameter (or 4 ¾”, across widest part to handle) x 2” high x 1 ¾” base diameter; Saucer, 5 ¾” rim diameter x 7/8” high x 2 ¾” base diameter.
