    Copper crumb tray with WINDSOR HOTEL AND HEMMING PARK CONFEDERATE MONUMENT.

    The Windsor Hotel in Jacksonville, FL was built in 1875 and burnt down in 1901. It was rebuilt and expanded throughout the years, but was eventually demolished in 1950.
    The monument symbolized the failed war effort was a statue of a Confederate soldier in winter dress, high atop a granite pillar.
    The monument was a gift from Charles Hemming, a Jacksonville native who’d gone on to be a successful banker in Texas.
    The monument was removed from the park in June 2020.
