Horse & Carriage Driver Artist John Ferneley Amsterdam Holland Vintage Decal
Original vintage/antique decal (definitely old but we don't know for sure how old, 1910s or earlier) featuring the artwork of John Ferneley, equine artist specialising in hunt and sporting scenes. Based on research, we believe this was likely a decal/transfer used on Fine China plates. In overall VG condition as seen in scans which we consider part of our description so please review them before bidding. Measures about 3 x 4.25 inches. (Note: we reversed the image on the writing so it was readable. When you look at the atual decal, the writing appears in reverse/backwards of course.)
John E. Ferneley
(18 May 1782 Thrussington, Leicestershire - 1860 Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire), was an English painter who specialised in portraying sporting horses and hunting scenes. Although his rendition of horses was stylised, he is regarded as one of the great British equine artists, second perhaps only to George Stubbs.
