Description
The Kentucky Trotting Record – long run, 1913Published weekly in Lexington.
Vols. 2 and 3.
Ca. 44 issues, running from January 2 to November 20, with 2 or 3 gaps, which we haven’t itemized (including October 2 and 9).
This was the second and last year of the paper’s publication.
It had originally superseded the journal Stock Farm.
A year of publishing transition.
In October the paper merged with The Horse Journal.
The Trotting Record’s last independent issue was November 6 (vol. 3, no. 16).
On November 13 the numbering switched to that of The Horse Journal (vol. 38, no. 20).
The last issue here is November 20, no. 21.
The Horse Journal ceased publication in 1917.
News of horses, personalities, farms, race meetings, sales, race entries and results etc. etc.
Many ads.
Tied with laces and marked “file copy.”
From the archive of a longtime harness horseman, and originally perhaps from the paper’s own office.
Imperfect but scarce: WorldCat cites only one location (National Agricultural Library).
Condition: each ca. 14-16 pp., photo of horse on front cover, and other photos inside. Poor to fair.
Seems to be mostly complete, but a few pages may be missing, as in photo 3 (San Francisco).
We haven't checked further.
Covers and margins worn, as shown.
Margins in last issue are nibbled, affecting only a few of the running-heads.
Heavy.
Ca. 10 x 15 inches.
Sold as is, with all faults.
