Description

An original trade catalogue issued by the Koken Barber Supply Co. of St. Louis in about 1899 accompanied by five original and about contemporary product photographs.
It is not explicitly dated, though the section of photographs of the factory and warehouses are dated 1898, as is a large, full page ad for shaving cream about in the middle of the book.
THIS IS LACKING ITS COVERS though the contents and page numbering seem to match up to a copy of the company's catalog No. 11 held by the Missouri History Museum (which also dates it as 1899).
So, this is very likely catalog No. 11.
There are 12, stunning full-page color chromolithograph illustrations of chairs and other color product illustrations scattered throughout.
This is pages 3-148 (with the front cover likely having been pp. 1-2 and the rear likely having been pp.149).
It measures approximately 12" x 9."
Apart from the missing covers this is complete and hasn't had anything cut out of it.
Condition issues aside, this is a RARE catalog. A much later Koken catalog recently sold here on eBay for 0.
ALSO INCLUDED:
Five original, likely slightly later (we're thinking early 1900's) original product photographs of Koken chairs. They measure about 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" each and are blindstamped by St. Louis photographer F.D. Hampson at lower right edges. They are linen backed and the model numbers are identified in handwritten numbers to the linen (#161-165).
