Description

Here we have an amazing, fine porcelain centerpiece compote by Schierholz/Plaue, Thuringia, Germany featuring a finely modeled & painted figured of a seated Eros mischievously playing with a butterfly and surrounded by a highly decorated arbor on a footed and latticed base, the whole surmounted by a large, matching reticulated removable bowl decorated with small delicate flowers and accented with hand painting and gilding. Wonderful original condition! Measures 17" tall x 10-1/2" in diameter at the rim. C.1890
