Vintage Marvin Oliver Art Card EAGLE AND BEAR 1990 Signed Embossed

Marvin E. Oliver
(1946-2019) is one of the Northwest Coast’s foremost contemporary Native American (Quinault/Isleta-Pueblo) sculptors and printmakers, who has made strides in the art world for the development and recognition of Native American Contemporary Fine Art.  “My works are formulated by merging the spirit of past traditions with those of the present… to create new horizons for the future”
Oliver’s career spanned over 45 years, working in a wide range of media, including carvings and sculpture, printmaking, blown glass art, and large-scale public artwork installations.
Embossing is accomplished with a metal plate (die) that is acid-etched in copper or hand-cut in brass, heated and then pressed into the paper with tonnage.  The art cards are 100% cotton rag paper and come with a single deckle edge and original signature.
I purchased this art card in the 1990's and it's been tucked away ever since.  The card is in new condition.  This card was hard to photograph.  The gold foil is very shiny and there are no shadows or grey areas anywhere on the card.  The card is creamy with very shiny gold foil embossing.
