    Oct. 14, 1978 edition of the Daily Racing Form with headline:
    "SLEW HEADS 3,800 GOLD CUP"

    This race was historic on several levels. It was just the second meeting ever of 2 Triple Crown Winners with AFFIRMED and SEATTLE SLEW both in the race! Even more dramatic is the fact that EXCELLER would win the race and become the only horse in history to defeat two Triple Crown Winners! He is very likely to retain that distinction forever!
    Despite the fact that he lost by a short head, it's my opinion that this was best race of SLEW'S career! After putting up mind boggling fractions of 22 3/5, 45 1/5, 1:09 2/5, 1:35 2/5, that would cook any horse, he still pushed EXCELLER to the wire in a narrow defeat. Truly unbelievable!
    Condition is excellent and the paper is complete. There is some writing on the Belmont Park past performances, but there are no major flaws.
    It would be great for framing.
